We are looking for a 

part time director of children and youth ministries

Part-Time 20 hours with the potential to go full time.

Benefits include: Paid vacation, continuing education, health insurance, pension

Salary: $20,000-30,000 annually ($19hr/$29hr. salaried position)

Seeking a minister of Christian Education and Enrichment primarily accountable for providing dynamic, high quality, spiritual programs for children and youth. The following are some of the duties and responsibilities the role will execute.

Must have:

4 year college degree or

2-4 years of experience with children and youth.

Must have Safe Church Training or enroll in course upon hire.

 Job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Being a Spiritual mentor to the youth age participants of St. Mark’s in and outside of the formal youth program.
  • Overseeing and be a good steward of the children and youth ministry budget.
  • Providing/Creating Christian formation (Sunday School) curriculum for children (ages 4-5th grade) and youth (6th-12th grade).
  • Being Present at 9:30am on Sunday mornings for weekly Christian Formation and at least one of the services on Sunday mornings.
  • Being flexible with scheduling as change does happen based upon time of year.
  •  Recruiting Sunday School teachers for the children and youth volunteers for other programmatic events.
  • Serving as the primary leader for the youth/Christian Formation program (grades 6-12)
  • Planning and lead at least one youth activity per month outside of regular Christian Formation on Sunday mornings
  • Promoting Youth involvement in St. Mark’s community.
  • Providing information for the parish website and newsletter in a timely and effective manner.
  • Communicating directly with the youth and families through mailings, emails, texts and phone calls etc.
  • Coordinating Youth leaders and plan calendar for middle and high school groups.
  • Implementing servant ministry projects in which the youth might serve others in the community.
  • Meeting monthly with the Charlotte area Episcopal Youth Ministers and plan and participate in multi church events (Episcopal Outreach Camp, Join Mission Trips)
  • Promoting and participate in diocesan Youth events.
  • Managing the recruitment, coordination and organization of chaperones.
  • Supervising the use of supplies and facilities necessary for youth activities and functions.
  • Working with the Rector to help create curriculum and classes for confirmation.
  • Working with the Rector to facilitate quarterly youth Sundays.
  • Creating online presence for all youth programing and events.
  • Attending monthly staff meetinngs.
