The Very Reverend Father Garry Edwards, Dean of Southeast Florida of the Diocese of Central Florida, Rector at St. Sebastian’s By The Sea Episcopal Church located in Melbourne Beach, Florida in the Diocese of Central Florida. Dean Garry was ordained transitional Deacon on January 30, 2017 and subsequently ordained Priest and installed Rector on August 13, 2017. Father Garry completed a year at Codrington College Seminary in the Island of Barbados before moving on to The General Theological Seminary of New York City where he received a Masters in Divinity and a Certificate in Spiritual Direction on May 17, 2017.

 

He is married with two adult daughters and when not busy with family and church, he enjoys cricket, football and playing golf. He was formerly a member of St. Alban’s Anglican/Episcopal Church in Brooklyn, NY for seventeen years which he served in many positions to include Lay Eucharistic Minister, Chief Acolyte, Warden and Youth Director. He also served as a Board Member of the Long Island Episcopal Charities, part of the Long Island Episcopal Diocese.

 

Prior to migrating to the United States in 1977, Father Garry attended All Saints Anglican Church in the parish of Saint Peter, Barbados where he served as a Sunday School teacher, Acolyte and Youth Leader. In 1984 Father Garry graduated from Brooklyn College of the City University of New York with a BA in Public Communications and Marketing. In his working career he was prominent in the mortgage industry serving many positions from Senior Mortgage Consultant to President of his own business, specializing in educating low to moderate income borrowers in the value of Home Ownership. He conducted many home buying seminars for first time buyers.

 

He is enjoying his new spiritual journey at St. Mark’s Huntersville, NC in the Diocese of North Carolina as its new Rector.
